Planting Fava Beans

Is it too late to plant Fava Beans?

Adena

Fava beans are a wonderfully hardy plant, so here in the banana belt you could probably get away with planting them early (January) or late (November). Here is a link to West Coast seeds and they have a “How to grow” guide. https://www.westcoastseeds.com/products/fava-beans-5

If you do plant them now, or even in January, I would try to protect the garden soil from freezing if we get a clod snap. You could do this with mulch or even a row cover.

Good luck!

Thank you Gordon. I want to try and use them for a cover crop and if i get beans that is a bonus. :slightly_smiling_face:
