The Plant Sale at VanDusen Botanical Garden is contacting you with a special invitation to your organization and its members. For over forty years, the Plant Sale has connected people in Vancouver and the surrounding regions with plants donated by the public and grown in nurseries in the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. The Plant Sale returned to the Floral Hall at VanDusen last year and is continuing its partnerships with nurseries to offer the public a diversity of plants from throughout the world. Botanical Odyssey is one of those nurseries.
The Plant Sale at Botanical Odyssey
Botanical Odyssey is a plant collection and wholesale nursery in Pitt Meadows, Vancouver with an extensive stock of uncommon and rare plants mostly from Asia. There are over 600 species and cultivars of trees, shrubs, and select perennials offered in container sizes ranging from #1 and 2 gallons to specimen sizes from #20 to 45 gallons (Email info@comoxvalleyhortsociety.ca if you would like to receive a list of plants). The nursery will be closing this year and is selling out its stock over the coming months. The stock is in top retail condition and will be sold at discounted wholesale prices.
The Plant Sale is collaborating with Botanical Odyssey to provide access to the nursery and its collections by appointment only through email. Due to the challenges for organizations on the Islands to coordinate group appointments and associated travel schedules and payments, Botanical Odyssey will now be open to individual members by appointment. The nursery will be open some weekdays (and possibly some Saturdays) through the remainder of February.
Botanical Odyssey is a wholesale nursery and will need to close the Plant Sale for invited organizations towards the end of February, in order to prepare orders for its commercial customers. Therefore, if any of your members are interested in touring the nursery and purchasing plants, it is requested they contact us this week. This will help ensure that they have access to the most of the remaining plant collections in the nursery. You will need to be able to transport any purchases home!
Botanical Odyssey’s collection of rare and uncommon species and new cultivars was developed over more than thirty years. These plants mostly will not be available after the nursery closes next year. The collection is impressive and something your members will want to see and select from before it closes. If your members are interested in touring the nursery and purchasing plants, please respond to plantsale@shaw.ca as soon as feasible and they will coordinate with you to schedule an appointment.
