Today’s open garden tour was a wonderful experience for our club. The walk down the country lane to the garden offered a beautiful bird’s-eye view of Kye Bay, setting the mood for a lovely stroll through this gorgeous property.
The 4.5-acre garden was established over 50 years ago and features a fabulous balance of sunny orchards, shaded paths, and sun-dappled flower beds. The silver-aged wooden buildings also add real character to the landscape.
Thanks to a unique microclimate, species thrive here that might not survive in other areas. The grounds include:
- Rhododendrons and azaleas from around the world
- Multiple rose varieties and aged fruit trees
- Massive mature trees and large shrubs
- Many native plants along the property trails
Thank you to our host, Susanne, and also to Steve, the full-time gardener, for welcoming us into this amazing garden.
