CVHS has been contacted regarding Garry Oak seedlings that are available. The property owners in east Courtenay have two large Garry Oak trees in their backyard that have produced a few seedlings. They are looking for a new home for them and contacted us to assist. If anyone is interested, please reply to the email below:
We have some Garry Oak trees that we’ve grown from the acorn in our gardens, which are between 5 and 20 years old. They do NOT have the gall wasp issue that is all over the Garry’s in Victoria, so their leaves are a beautiful and glossy deep green, unlike those in Victoria, constantly riddled with holes that turn them prematurely brown. They do make a great addition to your landscaping, if you have the room.
Hi Kim
I have a teacher from Denman wanting to establish a native garden at the school. She’ll be planting some Camas bulbs from me, and mentioned wanting to plant a Garry oak. Are these still available? If so, can I put you in touch with her?
Thanks, Joan
Hi Joan,
I just commented on this thread, but I’m not the one that has the Garry Oak seedlings. You would need to reply to info@comoxvalleyhortsociety.ca as in the original post to find out who has them.
Cheers,
Kim
