Call for Hosts: Be the Site of Our Meadow-Making Workshop!
Are you dreaming of replacing a patch of lawn with a vibrant, flower-filled meadow? The CVHS Workshop Committee is looking for the perfect host site for a special Lawn-to-Meadow Conversion Workshop to be held this fall.
By choosing our host now, we can begin stockpiling materials and preparing for a successful event. During the workshop, our leader will guide participants through the practical steps of establishing the beginnings of a native wildflower meadow.
What We’re Looking For
A great host site would include:
-
A desire to convert part of your lawn into a native flowering meadow -
Full sun exposure (6–8 hours/day) -
Flexible area size (depends on project budget) -
Ability to exclude foot traffic from pets, people, and deer, as well as deer browsing -
Vehicle access for compost and materials delivery -
Ability to water the site for 1–2 seasons until established -
Few or no highly invasive weeds -
Approximately $6 per sq. metre to cover plants, compost, seeds & supplies -
Space to stockpile materials such as leaves and to keep cardboard dry
Note: Budget requirements may shift depending on whether plugs, seeds, or a mix are selected and the amount of compost needed at the site. This project acts as a demonstration site, and you are welcome to continue building upon it in the future.
