BC's Floral Emblem

I am nominating the dogwood, the Pacific Dogwood became B.C.'s floral emblem in 1956. It is bright, long lasting, a simple flower, with 4 petals and such a pure white color. You can see this tree for miles, and everyone who sees one, knows what it is. A delight every spring in my garden, the flowers start out small and get larger with each day, kind of shouting out, “here I am, welcome to British Columbia!”

I’ve been thinking of planting a Dogwood tree this fall, but am humming and hawing about which colour. I’m kind of drawn to the pink ones but I don’t think they would be as hardy as the native white ones. Yours is stunning!
